Launches a mobile app called iPHEX Mobile App
The third edition of iPHEX 2015 will be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre from May 13 to 15. The event will be promoted by the Pharmaceutical Exports Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil), and supported by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, and Government of India.
The exhibition will create a platform for the drugs, pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, all under one roof. Over 20,000 potential buyers including 450 overseas buyers from 89 countries focus areas have been invited to participate in the exhibition. Over 40 drug regulators are attending the event from 15-20 countries. The event will be co-located with PHARMA Pro&Pack Expo 2015, a show for pharma machinery manufacturers.
The event will be inaugurated by Minister for Chemicals and Fertiliser, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Girish Bapat. Rajeev Kher, Commerce Secretary as well as GN Singh, Drug Controller General of India will also be attending the exhibition.
Government of Sri Lanka has nominated S Liyanage, Chairman, State Pharmaceutical Corporation; KMDR Dassanayake, General Manager, State Pharmaceutical Corporation; A Priyadharshana, Director, National Drug Quality Assurance Laboratory; M Karunarathne, Assistant Director, Medical Supplies Division; HM Pushpakumara, Assistant Director, Medical Supplies Division and JRS Kumara, Chief Pharmacist, Medical Supplies Division to visit iPHEX 2015.
Bhavin Mehta, Committee Chief of iPHEX and CoA member, Pharmexcil said, “iPHEX 2015 will be a complete value chain show and Pharmexcil is creating a sustainable pharma industry platform with a special focus on exports market development. iPHEX 2015 will see the presence of business visitors including overseas buyers and drug regulators. Besides, this year we have launched a mobile app called iPHEX mobile app. This app is a perfect electronic event guide displaying the list of buyers, exhibitors, their speciality, areas of interest etc. at just a click.”
iPhex 2015 will see participation of over 325 leading pharma companies. The exhibitors’ list includes Lupin Laboratories, Mankind Pharma, Ajanta Pharma, Granules India, Charak Pharma etc.
The three-day event will have technical sessions on ‘Regulatory perspective for global opportunities in Nutraceuticals’, ‘Indian Pharmacopoeia – A Book on Global Standards’, and ‘Regulatory Actions By US FDA – Strategies To Handle Business Risks” and interactive meet with overseas regulators.’
Pharmexcil’s main focus this year, according to Dr PV Appaji, Director General, Pharmexcil is to get drug regulators from other countries to recognise the Indian Pharmacopoeia.
According to him, Pharmexcil has compared the monographs of Indian Pharmacopoeia, British Pharmacopoeia and United States Pharmacopoeia and concluded that the specifications/standards are similar in nature.
“If overseas countries recognise Indian Pharmacopoeial standard for registering / testing of quality drugs imported from India, then manufacturers / exporters would be able to manufacture domestic and export purpose drugs in huge quantities with higher batch sizes. The cost of testing would be lower and the advantage of cost saving can be passed on to the importing countries,” reasoned Appaji.
