The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance has appointed Samir Mehta, Chairman, Torrent Group, as the President of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) for 2021-2023 while Samina Hamied, Executive Vice Chairman, Cipla will be the new Vice President, IPA notified in a statement yesterday.

Speaking on the new role, Mehta said, “COVID-19 has been a challenging time for the Indian pharmaceutical industry. However, the industry has risen to the challenges and ensured continuous supply of medicines to patients. The pandemic has further highlighted the significance of collaboration, access to affordable medicines and innovation to respond to the country’s healthcare needs. IPA will be collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the accessibility of medicines and help in creating an innovation ecosystem that will be beneficial to the patients.”

Adding to it, Hamied said, “Pleased to receive this opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the healthcare ecosystem and unlocking significant growth opportunities. I am looking forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders of the industry to ensure sustainable, resilient and agile operations and create a positive difference in the lives of patients.”
