They complement the other well-known traditional “omics” approaches like Genomics and hence poses similar challenges to researchers like working with large number of entities and highly variable concentrations.
Mass-spectrometry is a widely accepted tool in the field of analytical chemistry for characterization of chemical compounds. The hallmark of mass-spectrometry based workflows are reproducibility and sensitivity, the same attributes make it well suited for use in Metabolomics and Proteomics applications.
