SPDS in collaboration with AAPS, USA organises Disso India 2021 Online

The tenth annual international conference on Dissolution Science and Applications was held from June 24-26, 2021

Conducted every year, the flagship conference by The Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS) is attended by pharmaceutical R&D, QA, and QC as well as academia professionals from India and abroad, involving speakers from the US, Europe and Asia. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the international conference was conducted online in collaboration with AAPS, USA and conducting the event jointly from June 24-26, 2021 (15.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs, IST).

The conference started with a prayer and the Anugraha Bashan of Pujya Swamiji Sachidananda Maharaj, The Muttathipathi of Mahameeru Peetam, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.

The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest – Dr BPS Reddy, Chairman of Hetero Group of Companies and Guest of Honour B Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru and President, Pharmacy Council of India.

The theme of the event was “Dissolution as a Pivotal Tool for Drug Product Performance”. The Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science (SPDS), an organisation which is going to complete 10 years soon has gained international presence and acceptance in a short span of time.

Disso India- 2021 Online had a total of 19 lectures from eminent professionals working in the pharma industry from around the world as well as academia coupled with a panel discussion. The international conference was attended by more than 2000 delegates on all three days, from Industry and Academia across the globe. The subject experts presented various advances and developments related to dissolution science and its applications. The event is organised by its President – Vijay Kshirsagar, Vice president, Dr Padma Devarajan, Vice President –SPDS and General secretary Dr L Ramaswamy, Managing Director of Sotax India and the organising committee members.

The scientific sessions were programmed and executed under the Chairmanship of Professor Arvind Bansal, Head-Department of Pharmaceutics, NIPER, SAS Nagar and the Co-Chair-Dr Vinod P Shah, Ex-US FDA and Pharmaceutical Consultant, US.

The Scientific Abstract Book was inaugurated by the Guest. Another highlight of the event was the release of the second edition of the Desk book of Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science & Applications by Dr Tina Morris, Chief Executive Officer, AAPS, USA.  The Desk Book is a unique one of its kind and contains around 20 chapters contributed and written by expert scientists across the globe. The aim of this publication is to provide the Academia, Industry Analysts and Research Scientists an overview of Basics and Fundamentals in the dissolution science and testing, recent developments in instrumentation and automation, changing regulatory requirements and innovations in the area of dissolution science and dissolution/in vitro release for novel dosage forms. The Desk Book has been edited by eminent experts from the US, Dr Vinod P Shah, Dr Umesh Banakar, and Dr Sandip Tiwari.
