Signet and BASF, in continuation of their partnership, co-organised Formulator’s Forum: Exchange on Excipients Innovation for South of India region at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad on March 19, 2024.
The event received active participation from formulators across pharma companies in Hyderabad. The objective of this forum was to have an open discussion on current innovations in pharma formulation development especially with product offerings from BASF Pharma Solutions.
Four eminent speakers shared their expertise and experiences on various topics.
Dr Felicitas Guth, Head of Global Development at BASF Pharma Solutions spoke on Soluplus, the first matrix forming polymeric solubiliser. The presentation explained how amorphous solid dispersion prepared using Soluplus can improve dissolution and bioavailability of poorly soluble actives.
Dr Venkata Ramana Naidu, Executive Vice President – R&D at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories was the expert speaker for the forum. He shared his insight on current advances in 505(b)(2) application which can be looked upon for strategic product development.
Umakanth Kanna, Head of Technical Services and Application Management at BASF Pharma Solutions elaborated on sustained release offerings. He explained the flexibility of Kollidon SR grades in providing SR formulations which can be formulated by wet granulation or direct compression, high-shear granulation or fluid bed granulation.
Dr Rajkiran Narkhede, Senior Manager, Technical Services and Application Lab – South Asia · BASF Pharma Solutions along with Dr. Felicitas presented on Kollitab DC 87 L, an all-in-one tableting solution that includes a filler, a binder, a disintegrant and a lubricant. They further demonstrated with example of Kollitab DC 87 L on how ZoomLab can assist formulators in formulation development.
All the sessions were very informative and provided an interactive platform for knowledge exchange.
