MSD, a global biopharmaceutical leader, inaugurated its new 2.5 lakh sq. ft Technology Centre in Hyderabad, further strengthening the city’s position as a global hub for life sciences, technology and innovation. The new centre will bring together advanced capabilities across digital, data, analytics, artificial intelligence, technology and engineering, supporting MSD’s global Human Health business and contributing to its worldwide technology network.
The Centre located at Hitech City was inaugurated by D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana, in the presence of Abhishek Narayan Singh, Senior Vice President, Digital Human Health, MSD; Ritesh Srivastava, Executive Director, MSD; Sai Krishna, IT Advisor to the Government of Telangana; and Sarvesh Singh, CEO, Telangana Life Sciences, and other senior members of the MSD leadership team.
Telangana’s life sciences ecosystem, with more than 2,000 companies, is increasingly evolving from a manufacturing-led base into a hub for advanced R&D, innovation and global technology capabilities. Over the last two years, the state has attracted major global players including Amgen, Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers Squibb, Sanofi, Align Technology and Zoetis, with operations spanning advanced technology, innovation and R&D. MSD’s new Technology Centre adds further depth to this ecosystem, bringing high
value digital and technology capabilities to Hyderabad and strengthening the city’s role in supporting global healthcare operations.

Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana said, “Telangana has built a truly end-to-end life sciences ecosystem, with more than 2,000 companies spanning APIs, bulk drugs, generics, CDMO, vaccines, research and discovery. Hyderabad has emerged as a global leader in vaccines and is home to one of the largest concentrations of USFDA-approved facilities outside the United States. Over the last two years, we have been deliberate about taking this ecosystem from manufacturing scale to the next generation of discovery, innovation, advanced R&D and global capability creation. In this journey, Telangana has welcomed major global companies and advanced technology and innovation operations. Today, we are proud to welcome MSD to Telangana and to our growing life sciences ecosystem. Through our Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–30, we are bringing the entire value chain together, from discovery and manufacturing to clinical research and technology. This convergence gives Hyderabad a unique global advantage. We will soon reach 100 GCCs, building on the 75+ GCCs established in Telangana last year, creating 4 lakh direct and indirect high-value opportunities at scale and further strengthening Hyderabad’s position as a global life sciences and technology hub.”
The Hyderabad Technology Centre will be an important part of MSD’s global technology network, enabling teams in Hyderabad to contribute to enterprise technology solutions, collaborate with colleagues across the world and advance digital capabilities that support MSD’s work to deliver innovative health solutions for people and animals globally. Together with strategic partnerships supporting manufacturing excellence and reliable access to medicines, the Centre reflects the breadth of capabilities across India that contribute to MSD’s global operations and its mission to improve health outcomes worldwide.

Hyderabad’s unique advantage lies in the convergence of its established life sciences ecosystem and advanced technology infrastructure, with Genome Valley located alongside one of India’s largest technology corridors. The Government is further strengthening this foundation through Bharat Future City, including a 2,100-acre life sciences zone with a specialised 100-acre hub for advanced biologics, alongside the 1Bio model, which provides plug-and-play access to advanced bio-foundry infrastructure to accelerate innovation and scale.
Telangana’s strong talent base further strengthens this ecosystem, with leading institutions such as CSIR-IICT, CCMB and NIPER producing highly skilled scientific talent. Through initiatives such as the Telangana School of Life Sciences and Industry-Integrated PhD programmes, the state is bringing academia and industry closer together, creating talent equipped to work at the intersection of life sciences, technology and advanced R&D, added the minister.
MSD’s presence adds another dimension to Hyderabad’s life sciences landscape, bringing together global expertise, digital capabilities and technology-driven solutions. The new Technology Centre will enable teams in Hyderabad to work on enterprise solutions for MSD’s global operations, creating opportunities for high-value technology work and strengthening the city’s role in supporting global healthcare innovation.
