Jubilant’s SEZ at Bharuch inaugurated

Jubilant Life Sciences has recently inaugurated its state-of-the-art Special Economic Zone (SEZ) which is spread over 300 acres in Vilayat Industrial Estate, in Bharuch district with an investment of over Rs 500 crore, in pursuance of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Government of Gujarat during the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ Conference in 2007. The SEZ was inaugurated by Narendra Modi, Chief Minister, Gujarat.

Commenting on the inauguration of the Jubilant SEZ, Modi said, “Jubilant has engaged with Gujarat for many years and now with their contribution of this SEZ to the development of the state, it only makes the bond stronger. Pharmaceutical sector requires constant innovation and Jubilant contributes substantial resources to research. I want to congratulate Jubilant Bhartia Group for giving significance to research. The Government of Gujarat has taken initiatives to build a world class innovation centre in Gujarat and we welcome any young entrepreneurs who want to contribute to future generations through research.”

Shyam S Bhartia, Chairman and Managing Director and Hari S Bhartia, Co-Chairman and Managing Director, Jubilant Life Sciences said, “We are setting up global size world class manufacturing facilities in Gujarat to fulfill our vision of leadership position in chosen areas of business. Gujarat being the natural choice to set up this facility, we are thankful to the state government for their constant encouragement, guidance and support. The facilities are fully integrated, starting from the basic feedstock to environment friendly finished products will also have a positive social and economic impact through building up local capabilities and providing employment opportunities.”

The company is also setting up a manufacturing plant at SEZ for Symtet, a crop science ingredient for one of the world’s largest and safest low cost insecticide through an environment friendly process. This will make Jubilant the world’s largest producer of the crop science ingredient for the insecticide through green route. These facilities will generate exports of about Rs 1,000 crore at full capacity.
