Biocon secures global settlement with Genentech for Pebrilzo launch

The agreement sets licensed launch dates for Biocon’s pertuzumab biosimilar in the EU, UK, US and other markets

Biocon has entered into a global settlement and licence agreement with Genentech, securing the earliest licensed launch dates for Pebrilzo, its biosimilar to the reference product Perjeta® (pertuzumab).

Biocon and Genentech executed the patent settlement agreement to resolve all pending disputes between the companies, including in the US, Canada and other jurisdictions.

The global patent settlement and licence agreement enables Biocon to launch Pebrilzo in the European Union and the UK in Q1 of calendar year (CY) 2027, in the US in Q3 of CY 2028, and in other Rest of the World (RoW) countries during CY 2026-2028, or earlier in certain circumstances.

The other terms of the agreement are confidential.

Pebrilzo is a biosimilar medicinal product containing pertuzumab as its active substance. Pertuzumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds with high affinity and specificity to the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), inhibiting the proliferation of tumour cells that overexpress HER2.

Pebrilzo is used for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer across multiple disease stages.
