Over 40,000 attendees and 1,300 exhibitors from 100 countries will take part in the event; ‘India Pharma Week 2016’ to be launched

UBM India will host CPhI & P-MEC India 2016, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical networking event in Mumbai. In its tenth anniversary, the expo is slated to transform from a three-day exhibition to a marquee show spanning a week, with the launch of the India Pharma Week, to be held from November 17 to 23, 2016.

Incepted in 2006, the CPhI & P-MEC India, originating from CPhI Worldwide, has become South Asia’s leading pharma meeting place covering every step of the supply chain, from drug discovery to finished dosage while P-MEC includes manufacturers of pharma machinery, products and packaging. The show has grown exponentially over the years, with domestic and foreign exhibitors and visitors engaging over significant levels of business.

For its tenth edition, the expo will be held concurrently at two venues in Mumbai — BEC & the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). While the former will have traditional participants for CPhI and P-MEC, the BKC venue will also include participants for ICSE & BioPh. The expo will comprise exciting facets such as the supplier-finder desk (a digital floor plan that enables visitors find exhibitors based on services or company names), innovation gallery (where exhibitors are encouraged to showcase their innovations on an international platform) and exhibitor showcase (product launches and offerings by exhibitors are highlighted).

The key companies exhibiting this year at CPhI include Hetero, Nectar Lifesciences, Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Aurobindo Pharma among others. On the other hand, some of the leading companies such as ACG Worldwide, Shimadzu Analytical, Gansons, Fette and Accupack Engineering will exhibit at P-MEC.

Yogesh Mudras, MD, UBM India said, CPhI & P-MEC India 2016 seeks to provide a comprehensive industry platform for every company that deals with pharma in India. With CPhI and P-MEC, we are proud that we have engaged the powerhouses of the industry to elevate their business and disrupt the pharma space with innovations. This year, we are excited about the India Pharma Week, our way of celebrating and encapsulating a decade’s success in the domain. While the past decade has been extremely buoyant, the expo, and the parallel events will help us comprehend how the upcoming decade shapes itself.”

The India Pharma Week will focus on the pillars of business, knowledge, leadership, innovation, recognition and networking in the pharma domain.

The Pre-Connect Congress on November 17 will serve as an opportunity for global players to learn about India’s pharma regulatory requirements, growth and emerging segments for future business. The Congress will host top pharma leaders such as DG Shah, Secretary General, IPA; Sharad Tyagi, MD, Boehring Ingelheim; Srini Srinivasan, MD, Hospira Healthcare (A Pfizer Company); Sanjit Singh Lamba, MD, Eisai Pharmaceuticals and CT Ranganathan, MD, RPG Lifesciences, among many others, to present unique insights on trending topics in the industry.

The Women in Pharma-Power Breakfast session on November 18 will address the fact that women still comprise only 15 per cent of the total workforce in the Indian pharma industry. The talks will be chaired by women who have broken the glass ceiling in the pharma sector such as Samina Vaziralli, Executive Vice-Chairman, Cipla; Dr Anurita Majumdar, Sr Medical Director & Global Established Pharma Medical Lead, Pfizer; and Dr Rashmi Hegde, Director – Medical, Abbott, among others.

Slated for the evening of November 18 is the India Pharma Awards, an endeavour that recognises and celebrates the excellence, achievements and innovations of pharma industry stalwarts along with networking opportunities, presentations and glamorous entertainment acts.

A strategic gathering of industry thought leaders, the exclusive, closed door CEO Round Table on November 22 will congregate CEOs of leading pharma companies to deep dive into thought-provoking, solution-driven discussions on key challenges within the industry, which will result in the presentation of a white paper report to policy makers.

Some off-the-beaten track events under the aegis of the IPW are the plant visit on November 19 and Pharma Leaders’ Golf on November 20.
