Telangana Industries Minister meets US pharma cos’ officials for investments in Telangana

Discussions were held to set up a centre of excellence in Telangana

Telangana Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, who is on a week-long tour of the US, met key executives of pharma giants like J&J, Merck and Pfizer.

Rama Rao met Merck’s Executive VP and President of Manufacturing, Sanat Chattopadhyay, and discussed setting up a centre of excellence in Telangana, it said.

Rama Rao also met the Acting Ambassador of India in the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, wherein issues of bilateral interest to US and India and the ease of doing business in India were discussed at length.

Rama Rao also addressed leaders from PhRMA — Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America — a group of the US’ leading innovative biopharmaceutical research companies. The meeting was attended by representatives from major companies including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Alexion, Merck and Amgen, among others.
