Biocon has appointed Pratima Rao as the Mission Director & Head of Biocon Foundation, the CSR arm of the company. Prior to joining Biocon Foundation, Rao was heading the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science, Baldwin Girls High School, Bengaluru for over two decades.
The company informed, Rao is an award winning teacher and an author who is committed to quality education. Rao is the author of the Challenge Mathematics, a series on mental mathematics, published by Macmillan India. She has also developed Chinnara Ganitha self-help books in mathematics in Kannada, for Biocon Foundation, which have been introduced in over 1400 schools in rural Karnataka. She has been a proud recipient of the ‘Best Educator’ award initiated by the Rustom Irani Foundation in Bengaluru. She has been associated with the Biocon Foundation’s Chinnara Ganitha rural education programme since its inception in 2006.
