3S Simons Security Systems received the Bronze Award in the ‘Packaging and Labelling’ category at this year’s PrintStars 2013 award ceremony. The prize was given to 3S in recognition of its outstanding OTF security label specifically developed to protect high security devices and premium packaging used for quality products and food.

The security label also protects online terminals used for cashless payment transactions as well as top quality watches, jewellery, fragrance products and electronic devices from unauthorised access or manipulation. It is based on Secure-ID technology and can be completely removed without leaving any residue behind. In contrast to Void films, adhesive residues which might contaminate the protected device are avoided. Fressnapf Tiernahrungs, the leading supplier of pet food and supplies, is one of 3S’ customers who uses the OTF security label in its German stores to secure its online terminals for cashless transactions against unauthorised access.

The anti-counterfeit technology specialist from Westphalia also succeeded at last year’s PrintStars competition: 3S received the Bronze Award for its security labels produced for the testing equipment manufacturer INGUN. Moreover, it was nominated for the Print and Media Awards 2013 in the category ‘The most innovative company of the year’.

“The seamless protection of high security devices and premium products is becoming an increasingly important area of interest for manufacturers, distributors and consumers. The PrintStars Award emphasises our claim to develop innovative and high quality products designed to prevent counterfeiting and tampering,” says Rolf Simons, Managing Director, 3S Simons Security Systems.

This year, the organisers of PrintStars received 432 applications for products in 15 categories and for nine special prizes, once again a lot more than last year. More than 900 print buyers, print service providers, agencies, photo studios, publishers, prepress providers and print finishing companies participated in this year’s contest. There were also many entries from universities as well as vocational and technical schools. The PrintStars prize is awarded annually to honour the best products in the printing industry.
